Design premise

The project idea stems from the observation of a current megatrend: the increasing integration of digital technologies into everyday life, including among children. Tools such as augmented and virtual reality offer significant opportunities for cognitive development, thanks to interactive and stimulating experiences.

However, they also present important limitations. Access occurs through devices such as smartphones, tablets, or headsets, which can be invasive (causing issues such as eye strain or sleep problems) and reduce interaction with the physical world, which is essential for balanced growth.

Design question

How might we create a product that supports children’s cognitive development by seamlessly blending the digital and physical worlds in an intuitive, natural, and engaging way?

The solution

WAND is an intelligent projector for children designed to support cognitive development through augmented reality. It uses interactive projections to directly integrate the digital and physical worlds, eliminating the need for intermediary devices such as tablets or smartphones and making the experience more natural and safe.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, it analyzes the environment, understands the context, and enhances real-world objects with informative and interactive content. The goal is to foster more engaging learning and stimulate children’s curiosity in a harmonious way.

How it works

1.png

SCANS AND PROCESSES

Scan and understand the surrounding context and its elements.
It analyzes the data collected from the physical environment and processes it through artificial intelligence and the internet, expanding the available information.

2.png

PROJECTS AND INTERACTS

It intelligently projects additional information, gathered in the previous step, onto the analyzed physical elements. The child can touch and interact with the projections as if they were real physical elements.
